Vertical Horizon

The sculpture Vertical Horizon originates from the form of mountain ranges found in the Polar series, which is part of the artist’s earlier flat works. While the mountain range (horizon), formed by numerous trees, is viewed from the side, one individual tree is shown from the front, creating a coexistence of horizontal, expansive landscapes and the vertical form of the tree. This work encapsulates both the macro landscape and the micro individual, exploring the coexistence, contrast, and interaction between the horizontal landscape and the vertical form.

조각 작품 '수직의 지평선' 은 작가의 초기 평면 작업인 '극지(Polar)' 시리즈에 등장하는 산맥 형태에서 출발한다. 수많은 나무들로 이루어진 산맥(지평선)은 측면에서 바라본 풍경이고, 그와 동시에 하나의 나무는 정면에서 표현되어 수평으로 펼쳐진 풍경과 수직적인 나무 형상이 공존한다. 거시적인 풍경과 미시적인 개체를 동시에 담아내며, 수평적 풍경과 수직적 형상의 공존, 대비, 상호작용을 탐구한다.
